The chapter is an interesting reading, forcing to do thing in a different way.
I buy some of the arguments.
I doubt that we can get rid of sine and cosine. Some problems are so easily described and solved using polar coordinates.
I think that “rational geometry” (RG) can have a major impact, maybe not so much for humans as for computers. Sine and cosine requires floating point arithmetic. RG does not.
